Khan Academy

Khan_logoKhan Academy is one of the new hot topics in education. If you haven't heard about it, you probably will.  Salman Khan was helping tutor his younger cousins and working over the internet. He made some short videos for them to watch and soon they told him they liked his videos better than having him there in person.  That idea expanded.  It was posted on Youtube.  With support from the Bill Gates Foundation,  they have their own site, apps, etc.  Login is not necessary to view the videos.

To use the full capabilities you log in using a Google or Facebook account. The teachers log in using one of these accounts and the students also log in and assign themselves to a teacher(coach).  Then the student's work within the academy is logged and the data charts and graphs are really good to allow following a group of students as they make progress.

There is nothing that would stop a teacher from creating something of their own that might be superior.  It just requires learning how and doing the work.

This TED talk is worth considering.  View it here.  It takes about 20 minutes to watch.

You may want to look at using some of the Khan Academy resources in your classroom.  They are located here.

If you want to develop a linking system to tie some of these to a bookmarking system and match them up to your curriculum and schedule, let's have a training at your location and get it done.
