Administrators and School Resource Officers Training
The legislature passed H.B. 460 in 2016, which required:
- Training for school-based law enforcement training for both administrators and SROs
- Develop MOUs between school districts and law enforcement agencies that include a detailed description of job duties of SROs
- The training described in H.B. 460 illustrates a national shift away from arrests and suspensions toward a more holistic approach to understanding how to work with traumatized youth and involving positive behavior interventions and restorative justice practices
